Design Story

Everything around that letter is layered relief-style detail: horned devil faces with narrowed eyes and bared grins, tridents crossing behind them, flame-like scrollwork that never quite settles. A banner reads TRUE BLUE LEGACY in raised silver-tone lettering, with DUKE at the shoulder, GO DUKE and a badge-style EST. 1838 marker lower down, and BLUE DEVILS anchoring the base. Supporting motifs — a helmet, a football, a jersey numbered 1 — fill the gaps. The palette stays disciplined: deep navy, cobalt highlights, pewter greys. It is maximalist by choice, but the hierarchy is clear.

The vertical proportion of the tumbler suits this design. The crest reads first from across a room, the banner text at mid-height, the smaller carved motifs only when the cup is in hand.
