Design Story

The focal panel centers a straw-hatted figure mid-tilt of the brim, hand raised, gaze steady and self-assured — held rather than mid-action. Behind him, a broad gold brushstroke ring reads as a halo at distance and gives the composition its anchor. Supporting motifs sit in the margins: gilded bamboo and scattered maple leaves at the left, vertical katakana down the right edge. Below the shoulder line, the palette drops to matte black for a typographic block — MONKEY D. LUFFY in gold serif caps, STRAW HAT CAPTAIN in red beneath a hairline rule, then a floral crest flanked by cloud scrollwork and edition-style wording with a year. Red, gold and near-black only. Restrained, layered, hierarchical.

Use & Experience

The vertical build works with the tumbler's proportion: illustration up top where the eye lands, quiet typography low where the silhouette narrows. Gold accents echo the metallic-look banding at rim and base, and the graphic sits opposite the handle so the focal face stays forward when carried.
