Design Story

The straw hat with its red band is the medallion — largest shape, warmest colour, anchored inside a blue eight-point compass rose. Read from a distance, it is simply cream and cobalt with a golden focal point. Step closer and the supporting cast appears: a skull-and-straw-hat flag, a chibi figure in red vest and blue shorts, palms, a message bottle, a spyglass, a picnic basket, a beach ball, a meat leg. The border does the structural work — rope moulding, compass roses in all four corners, and a repeating rank of anchors, ship's wheels, starfish and shells. Everything is illustrated in soft watercolour-style linework over a parchment-toned field.

Room & Styling

Centred hierarchy means furniture placed at the edges never competes with the focal motif. The wide framed border keeps the artwork visually contained, so the piece reads as a deliberate room anchor rather than a print dropped on the floor.
