Design Story

The composition is strictly centred and strictly bordered. At distance the eye reads the stone keep with its spired towers, the arched gatehouse and the pale stormlit sky behind it. At medium range the heraldry declares itself: rampant lions in gold, crimson banners, a crowned shield above and a blue fleur-de-lis shield below, flanked by two facing lions and crossed swords. The outer frame divides into corner cartouches of lions, mid-panels of helms, crowns and crossed blades, all held by a scrolling gilt border on deep oxblood. The palette stays disciplined — aged gold, burgundy, slate grey, ivory — so the ornament never competes with the architecture. Fine linework and shadowed detailing give it the look of a painted tapestry, an effect of the image rather than of the surface.

Room & Styling

As a floor piece it behaves like a medallion rug: the castle anchors the middle, the emblem panels weight the edges, and the border closes the field cleanly. Placed centrally, it reads whole from standing height; under a low table, the surrounding heraldic band still frames the room.
