Design Story

The center panel is a stone gatehouse — twin round towers, conical red roofs, a portcullis arch at the end of a paved causeway that pulls your eye straight into the middle. Above it, a deep midnight-blue sky carries a crowned shield with a golden lion rampant. That lion is the repeat motif: it returns on hanging banners, on corner cartouches, on the bottom shield. Around all of it runs a bordered frame of oxblood red and navy compartments holding crowns, visored helms, crossed swords and fleur-de-lis, tied together with gold scrollwork. The palette is disciplined — aged gold, wine red, stone grey, ink blue — and the woven-look texture softens every edge, so the detail reads antique rather than loud.

Room & Styling

As a floor composition it's classically bordered: a strong central medallion scene, symmetrical supporting motifs, and a frame that keeps everything contained inside the rug's silhouette. From across the room you read castle and crown. Step closer and the heraldic border details appear.
