A floor piece built like a map rather than a print. Everything orbits one calm centre, and the eye knows exactly where to land.
Design Story
The centre holds a straw hat with a red band, ringed by a golden sunburst ray and a dotted indigo circle that reads as a compass medallion from across the room. Around it, supporting motifs sit in loose symmetry: a smiling sun, a skull-and-crossbones in a straw hat, a wicker picnic basket, a message bottle, scallop shells, citrus slices, a palm islet riding blue wave scrolls, a ship's wheel, and a small orange-haired figure seated at the right. The palette stays restrained — cream ground, indigo linework, ochre and terracotta accents, soft sage foliage. A layered border of diamonds, florals and corner roundels frames the field and keeps the composition disciplined.
Room & Styling
As a square floor composition, the hierarchy does the work: one dominant medallion, a mid-band of scattered motifs, then a graphic border that resolves the edge instead of letting the artwork drift off. Generous cream negative space keeps it calm underfoot, so it anchors a seating area without fighting furniture. Viewed standing, it reads as a single emblem; viewed seated, the small illustrated details reward closer looking.
