Design Story

The visual anchor is the long serrated blade set on a diagonal, its black lacquered spine and tassel chain drawn with fine linework. Behind it, a faded grey hexagon frames a large brushed kanji, giving the panel a stamp-like backdrop rather than a competing subject. A deep crimson brush sweep arcs beneath the blade, scattering into petal-like flecks that carry the eye downward. Lower right, a bust in profile — visor, tattooed brow, swept red hair — reads calm and serious, not mid-fight. Vertical lettering, RENJI, plus stacked Japanese characters and a small circular seal, holds the left margin like a spine of type. Palette is disciplined: ink black, oxidised red, warm undyed ground.

Carry & Styling

Coverage sits large but never crowds the panel; the blade's diagonal runs almost handle-to-hem, giving the bag silhouette a strong vertical rhythm while the margins stay open. The typography column edges the left side like a printed spine, and the portrait weights the lower right, so the composition stays balanced as the tote shifts in motion. Bold graphic accessory rather than maximalist statement — neutral ground keeps it easy against denim, black tailoring or washed workwear.
