Design Story

The straw hat with its red band sits at the exact middle, the largest and calmest shape on the surface, with a ribbon banner reading STRAW HAT PICNIC and SET SAIL FOR FUN beneath it. Around that centre the eye moves outward through supporting motifs: a skull-and-crossbones emblem above, a blonde figure in a dark suit resting his cheeks in his hands with hearts in his eyes, a coconut drink, a ship's wheel, a snail, hibiscus, a blue-and-cream checked cloth. A deep navy border with gold diamond banding closes the whole scene, its anchor and compass medallions marking the edges. Cream, ochre, sea blue and coral hold the palette together.

Room & Styling

As a floor piece, the centred hat gives the rug a clear medallion read from standing height, while the dense border keeps the artwork contained rather than spilling toward the room.
